Ananas comosus Pineapple Pure Gold / 73-50

Pineapple Hybrid 73-50 was developed by the Hawaiian Pineapple Research Institute (dissovled in 1975). It was imported into Australia in 1987 by a farmer from out near Woodford (SE QLD) who realised its potential and as legend has it bought six plants into Australia in a suitcase. These pineapples were marketed as Bethonga Gold. The crowns of the 73-50 were removed by the Bethonga grower to stop other growers cultivating the variety via planting the tops. The topless feature stuck as the variety gained popularity with consumers through the large supermarkets. The custom has an adverse affect on the look of pineapple as the fruit tends to dehydrate faster with the top removed. Many in the industry would prefer to see the custom done away with, however the chain stores seem to want the practice to continue.

The 73-50 is a sweet pineapple. Its parentage includes 54% Cayenne, 20% Mordilona, 13% Pernambuco, 13% Red Spanish and 3% Queen. It was considered by PRI breeders to be a high yielding cultivar with low acidity and high vitamin C . This selection has been grown on an increasing scale in Australia under various names. All usually suffixed with "Gold". For example our own brand, Rollingstone Gold plus Mareeba Gold, Aussie Gold and Pure Gold from the other large pack houses. They are all the same variety. It is Australia's largest hybrid pineapple crop, however the MD2 is gaining in popularity (see below)

The acidity of the 73-50 is only about half that of the Smooth Cayene variety in early winter. The vitamin C content of the 73-50 is about 5 times greater than the Cayenne in winter. 73-50's normally have a very aromatic flavour, and when naturally ripened and picked with breaking colour produce a gorgeous perfume that demands attention. The 73-50 has a slightly smaller core than the Cayenne in comparison to the fruit width, and the flesh is more yellow. The 73-50 has a useful level of field resistance to blackheart (rotten core) but can be susceptible to internal browning.

Good purchase
Style: 3 Pound, Pair
These are just the right weight for me to start gaining muscle back in my arms, after a large weight loss. They are of good quality, they are covered in a nice rubber like coating that is soft to the touch. They are small enough that i can take them with me when I travel. My dog has got hold of them a couple times and played with them, and they held up just fine without any damage.

Solid, grippy, and they don’t roll away!
Style: 10 Pound, Pair
I bought these because I’m finally trying to build a consistent home workout routine and didn't want to drop a fortune on name-brand weights. I’ve been using this 10lb pair for about a month now for everything from overhead presses to lunges, and honestly, they’re exactly what I was looking for. The Pros: • That Neoprene Grip: The coating is fantastic. Even when my hands get pretty sweaty halfway through a workout, I don’t feel like I’m going to drop them. It’s a much "softer" feel than cold metal or hard plastic. • The Hex Shape: This is a small detail that makes a huge difference. Since the ends are hexagonal, they don't roll across the floor when I set them down between sets. They also stay put if I’m using them for "renegade rows" or floor work. • Compact Size: They aren’t bulky. I can easily shove them under my bed or in the corner of the closet when I’m done. • No Weird Odor: I was worried they might smell like a tire factory (which happens with some rubber-coated weights), but these had almost no scent right out of the box. The Cons: • Handle Diameter: The handles are a little on the thicker side. I have medium-sized hands and it’s fine, but if you have very small hands, they might feel a bit chunky to wrap your fingers all the way around. • Color Scuffs: The navy blue looks great, but if you clank them together or drop them on concrete, the coating can scuff or show dust pretty easily. The Verdict: If you just need a reliable set of weights for HIIT, Pilates, or general strength training, these are a no-brainer. You're basically getting gym-quality equipment for a fraction of the price. I’ll probably be back for the 15lb set in a few months!

Worth its weight in gold
Color: Ocean Blue, Style: Everyday 3 Season 50-80° F
Great, left the wind & cold out. Kept me warm with 17* wind chill! Durable. Couldn’t have asked for better warmth made sitting @ watching a soccer game doable. It’s literally lite weight, has a convenient of a carrying bag.

Great sleeping bag
Color: Ocean Blue, Style: Everyday 3 Season 50-80° F
Great size for my 10 year old son. Nice and long. The material is soft and warm. The zipper zips fast. There is like a hoodie on the top to go over your head to keep you warm.

Great for school trips and camping
Color: Sunburst Orange, Style: Everyday 3 Season 50-80° F, Color: Sunburst Orange, Style: Everyday 3 Season 50-80° F
My daughter went on a school camp trip and needed a sleeping bag, so I decided to get this one. I chose the adult size instead of the kids’ version so we can use it in the future too. It turned out to be a great choice — it’s roomy and comfortable, and even I fit inside easily. The material feels soft and pleasant to the touch, and the zipper works smoothly without getting stuck. It keeps you warm at night but doesn’t feel too hot, which is perfect for cool-weather camping. I did notice that along the edges there’s a section without insulation for quite a bit of distance — not a big issue, but something to be aware of. I tried to show this part in my video. The color is bright and cheerful, exactly as shown in the pictures. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase — it’s lightweight, cozy, and easy to use. The only challenge is rolling it up and fitting it back into the carrying bag. Even for me, it took some effort since the sleeping bag is quite bulky. The material seems sturdy and well-made, but we’ve only used it once, so time will tell about its durability. Maybe the manufacturer could improve that part in the future. Still, it’s a great option for school trips, camping, and sleepovers.
