Each piece is handmade in Indonesia – the birthplace of the rattan bistro chair. We use Manau rattan, which is grown and harvested in the Indonesian rainforests. It is known for its durability, strength, and weather-resistant qualities. Indonesia is the largest rattan producer in the world. Each piece of rattan is coated with PU-DOFF, a transparent solvent-based polyurethane resin that provides extra protection from UV rays. The unique coating is specially formulated to deliver a durable, protective layer to resist water and chemicals, making it UV-resistant.
Our weaving material is a high-quality, virgin HDPE (high-density polyethylene). HDPE is a highly sought-after material for use in outdoor applications, as it is UV resistant, impervious to mold and mildew, resistant to extreme temperatures (heat and cold), and waterproof. Virgin HDPE also offers excellent impact resistance and a high tension strength. It is easy to clean using a mild soap detergent with a soft sponge and rinse with water.
HDPE is the most environmentally stable plastic, emitting no harmful fumes into the environment. Manufacturing HDPE plastics requires only a fraction of the energy required to produce steel from iron ore, further contributing to its Eco-friendly classification.
