These beautiful but chlorophyll-deprived seedlings are grafted (a physical union of the vascular systems of two plants) onto fast-growing Hylocereus cacti, a base plant that provides the necessary chlorophyll for the upper plant (the Gymnocalycium seedling lacking in chlorophyll) to thrive.
