The plant stores water in this thickening — a clever system from its dry homeland in Mexico. This variant has two trunks side by side, each topped with a tuft of long, narrow, gently arching leaves.
The leaves are grass-like, dark green, and fall outward in soft curves. Over time the tuft continues to grow, giving the plant its typical silhouette.
Care could not be simpler. The Ponytail Palm wants to stand in bright light, ideally with sun. Water very sparingly — the soil should dry out well between waterings. In winter, every two to three weeks is enough, often even less. If you tend to forget watering, this is the right plant for you.
