The Red Little Lucky Lantana from the Southern Living Plant Collection may be exactly what your garden needs! This perennial produces gorgeous clusters of multi-colored blooms that range from red to orange to yellow. Furthermore, their bloom season begins up to three weeks before traditional Lantanas! Expect these beauties to continuously rebloom from spring to the first frost.
The leaves of the Red Little Lucky Lantana are short and pointed, with deep lobes. This bright green foliage is an ideal backdrop for the blooms and provides a phenomenal contrast. Additionally, this plant is deciduous, which means that it will lose its foliage in winter before returning in spring.
Its foliage is dense and quite compact. Therefore, it's not leggy like most Lantanas. It maxes out at only 10-12" H x 10-12" W! This opens up some fantastic opportunities in the landscape. Use it as a container plant or in the foreground of a garden bed. Alternatively, plant a huge group of them for a low-maintenance mass planting.
The Red Little Lucky Lantana takes heat and humidity in stride, so it's perfect for Southern gardens and landscapes!
This series has four Lantanas, including the Red Little Lucky Lantana, Peach Glow Little Lucky Lantana, Hot Pink Little Lucky Lantana and the Pot of Gold Little Lucky Lantana.
Red Little Lucky Lantana Care
Perennial from USDA Zones 10-11, and Annual in Zones 9 and below.
Plant in Full Sun for best results, at least 5-6 hours per day.
Water 2-3 times per week during the first growing season. Afterward, the Red Little Lucky Lantana has relatively low water requirements.
Grows best in rich garden soil with good drainage.
Lantanas need little fertilizer to grow and bloom properly provided that the soil is fertile. However, feel free to apply an organic balanced fertilizer in early spring.
