Aglaonema wurde erst 1885 über den Botanischen Garten Kew in England im Westen eingeführt. Dort wurde Aglaonema gezüchtet, hybridisiert und zu einer Vielzahl von Sorten veredelt, darunter 'King of Siam'. Sie leben bei schwachem Licht und sind beliebte Zimmerpflanzen, da sie schwaches Licht vertragen.

Botanische Beschreibung

Aglaonema commutatum ist die Art und 'King of Siam' ist die Sorte. Die Art stammt aus Zentralmalaysia.

Aglaonema 'King of Siam' hat große, elliptische bis ovale Blätter mit einer dunkelgrünen Grundfarbe und einer silbrig-roten Musterung. Die Blätter sind glänzend und können bis zu 20-30 cm lang und 10-15 cm breit werden. Sie haben einen deutlichen, fast metallischen Glanz. Als Zimmerpflanze wird sie buschig und wächst aufrecht.

Aglaonema commutatum 'King of Siam' ist perfekt für Innenräume ohne Zugang zu starken Lichtverhältnissen.

Pflege

Aglaonema 'King of Siam' sollte in gut durchlässigem Boden angebaut werden, vorzugsweise einer Mischung für tropische Pflanzen wie unsere torffreie Erde. Die Pflanze bevorzugt helles, indirektes Licht, kann aber auch bei geringeren Lichtverhältnissen gedeihen.
