Liquid Oxygen contains Hydrogen Peroxide at 11.9%, this compound will add extra oxygen to a mineral nutrient solution making it a great way to supercharge root growth and nutrient uptake in your hydroponic system. It is also incredibly effective at dealing with outbreaks of pythium or other bacteria issues your plants may face.
How It Works
When added to your nutrient solution hydrogen peroxide will quickly break down and release a free atom of oxygen. This atom is highly reactive and will attach itself to another atom so it can form a stable oxygen molecule, or attack a nearby organic molecule such a virus or fungal spore. In more simple terms this means that oxygen levels within the water can be raised significantly simply by adding this product. Likewise it also means that if there are diseases within the tank such a pythium it will attack and kill them too.
How To Use Liquid Oxygen (Oxy Plus)
Liquid Oxygen has a number of uses which we have detailed below. In all scenarios it can be used at all stages of growth. It is important to remember that hydrogen peroxide will naturally attack organic compounds in your growing media or nutrient solution. Therefore it should not be used with any products that are comprised of organic matter or enzyme solutions
Increasing Oxygen Levels
Oxygen is key for healthy root growth and nutrient uptake in hydroponic systems. Most hydro systems rely on air pumps and air stones in the water to provide this, however too much air input in this way can cause issues with pH levels rising. Use Liquid Oxygen at a rate of 1ml per litre on a daily basis to maintain high levels of oxygen in your water. For those that do not wish to add daily use 2ml per litre 2-3 times per week. This type of application will also help to prevent out breaks of fungal infections.
Pythium & Fungal Infections
Use Liquid Oxygen at a rate of 2ml per litre on a daily basis to combat existing bacteria infections in both hydroponic systems or plants grown in other types of medium. Continue using until the issue has been dealt with.
Sterilisation
In between crops it is important to properly clean your equipment. Use 15ml of Oxy Plus per litre of water and soak/circulate in your system, pots etc for 24 hours before throughly rinsing or flushing with clean water.
