Organic Belted Cotton Shirt Dress

A Timeless Garment of Grace, Culture & Conscious Living

At BeachCandy, we believe clothing should be more than fabric—it should tell a story, hold intention, and feel like a second skin. Our Organic Belted Cotton Shirt Dress, handcrafted in India by skilled artisans, is all of these things and more. It’s a piece that honors tradition, elevates the everyday, and gently treads on the Earth we love.

This isn’t just a shirt dress—it’s a work of living art. Made from 100% organic Indian cotton and dyed with ancient vegetable-based techniques like mud and turmeric, each dress reflects the profound legacy of India’s rich textile heritage. Every thread, every button, every brush of dye is handled with care by small-batch artisans whose families have perfected the craft of block printing for generations.

From the Earth, For the Soul

The fabric used in this piece is unlike any other—pure organic cotton, grown without chemicals, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers. It breathes with you, moves with you, and honors the natural intelligence of your skin. No stiffness. No toxins. Just an airy softness that feels as good as it looks.

Dyed with mud, turmeric, and other plant-based pigments, the dress comes in two deeply intentional prints:

  • The Marbled Mud Dye – A neutral earthy tone with a subtle marble texture, grounding you in nature.

  • The Vibrant Turmeric Third Eye Print – A bold print with spiritual significance, designed to awaken the senses and elevate your energy.

Because we use only natural dyes and traditional printing methods, no two dresses are the same. Each one is a limited edition expression of individuality, just like the women who wear them.

More Than Just a Dress

The beauty of this shirt dress lies in its function as much as its form. The collared neckline and coconut shell buttons create a crisp, tailored appearance that can be styled for work, while the lightweight cotton and belted waist offer ease and comfort for everyday wear. It’s polished yet relaxed. Structured yet soft. It’s your go-to dress whether you’re heading to a coastal retreat, a weekend brunch, or simply want to feel put together with zero effort.

Button it up for the boardroom. Unbutton it over a bikini as a vacation cover-up. Pair it with sneakers or sandals, heels or bare feet. This is a garment for every hour of the day—and every version of you.

Crafted with Integrity, Designed for Impact

This dress is born from a beautiful partnership with a small artisan village in India, where craftsmanship is revered and production is done slowly, ethically, and sustainably. No factories. No shortcuts. Just people—real human hands pouring intention into every seam.

By wearing this dress, you're supporting more than just the artisan who made it. You're helping preserve ancient knowledge, creating fair opportunities, and championing a way of fashion that respects people and planet alike.

Why Organic Cotton Matters

When we say organic cotton, we mean a commitment—to your health, the health of our makers, and the health of the Earth. Unlike conventional cotton, which is often doused in chemicals and contributes to environmental degradation, organic cotton is grown using regenerative methods that:

  • Preserve soil health

  • Reduce water usage

  • Support biodiversity

  • Protect farmers from harmful exposure

  • Break the cycle of toxic textile waste

Even better? Organic cotton is stronger and longer-lasting. This means your dress will hold its shape, integrity, and vibrancy—wash after wash, season after season.

A Piece to Cherish for Years to Come

This shirt dress isn’t made for trends. It’s made for real life—timeless, adaptable, and deeply rooted in something more meaningful. It’s a staple in the Be The Change Collection because it represents everything we stand for: non-toxic living, cultural appreciation, conscious fashion, and empowered women.

We believe that what we wear should reflect who we are and what we stand for. And if you stand for elegance, ethics, and Earth-loving fashion—this dress is for you.

Solid "Star Wars"-ing.
Format: Paperback
“Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku” is a three-part, 12-issue comic series, comprised of a trio of individual miniseries that form one collective trilogy-of-sorts, and details the war between New Republic/Imperial forces in the weeks and months following the events of “Return of the Jedi.” Writer Alex Segura – who previously penned the underrated "Free Fall" – does a good job of telling a single, satisfying story that ALSO tees up his upcoming relaunch of the mainline “Star Wars” series in May. What also makes “The Battle of Jakku” a pleasure to read – particularly if you’re a diehard “Star Wars” fan - are the various Easter eggs and cross-franchise connections it makes to other entries in the series, including “Battlefront II,” Greg Rucka’s "Shattered Empire," and even Chuck Wendig's “Aftermath” trilogy. Watching this specific era of the “Star Wars” timeline be filled out and expanded within the larger media has been one of the more satisfying and consistently enjoyable aspects of the “Star Wars” property these last 10 years, and Segura – as is his want – does yeoman’s work in effectively putting a final bow on it. All in all, pretty darn good “Star Wars”-ing.

All this talk of Jakku and not a single worthwhile image of it.
Format: Paperback
This was a total disorganized mess that bears no resemblance to Star Wars at all. The art is puerile at best and some characters bear a passing resemblance to Luke and Leia. The dialogue is nonsense and reads nothing like the characters would speak. The plot is a ridiculous compilation of double crosses that make no sense at all. The Imperials don’t act like Imperials and the endless plethora of new characters and planets make for an exhausting and tedious read. Finally, the story doesn’t really mesh with that other ridiculous trilogy of books by Chuck Wendig. Real Star Wars writers were needed like James Luceno or Timothy Zahn. I wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy. Life is short. Stick to writers with a proven track record and stories that reflect Lucas’ vision not the Disney disorder. Oh for the days when Dark Horse told exciting tales and had great artists. Marvel seems to be just interested in squeezing money out of the name and not creating a meaningful legacy.

Absolute Slop
Format: Paperback
This is likely the worst Star Wars graphic novel/story in the history of the medium. Absolute slop.

A must read for Kylo fans
Format: Kindle
I'm so sad this was only about 100 pages. This gave clarity to the choppy movie origin story of Kylo Ren while filling some major movie plot holes. Angsty, heart wrenching and dark -- the perfect intro for our favorite emo space boy. The art style was really great without being too gory. Adam Driver fans will also be pretty pleased with the likeness (it's not exact, but still good).
