My cat likes it more than the dog, but my dog is an older girl who doesn't play much. Most dogs would probably like it. It's rechargeable, so no batteries, and you can apparently use a bluetooth connection to download more sounds, etc. It's basically just chirps now and then. Overall a great toy for bored pets. Not a superlight toy- has a little weight to it so it rolls around, and the ropes flop around.
