Fabric: 1000 Denier MIL-SPEC CORDURA® nylon is the industry-leading choice for a variety of heavy-duty applications such as outdoor gear, military gear,  and now dog harnesses. It is a versatile nylon fabric with more strength and bulk than No. 7 Duck at little more than half the weight. CORDURA® Nylon is a textured nylon for a natural spun-like appearance, with excellent resistance to fading, abrasion, rot, and mildew. Quick drying, and highly water repellent. This particular fabric is also one of the finest textiles we have ever seen. It's incredibly tough, yet still soft and pliable for comfortable wear for long hikes and service dog shifts. Lastly, this MIL-SPEC version is 100% Made in USA and fully Berry Compliant.

Hardware: 1.5" Zinc Die Cast Side Release Buckles 

Zinc die casting is known for producing parts with high strength and durability. Zinc alloys offer excellent mechanical properties, including high tensile and yield strength, making them suitable for various applications requiring strong and robust components. These buckles have a breaking load of 440lbs (200KG). These buckles are a perfect affordable choice for bomb and narcotic detection, search and rescue and other non apprehension work.  

1.5” Alu-Max Side Release Buckles are durable and capable of withstanding extreme conditions. Both pin and spring are made of stainless steel. Alu-Max buckles can be easily opened and closed with one hand. The buckle body has a curved profile. These lightweight aluminum buckles are well suited for K9’s that are doing detection and agitation work. They have a breaking load of 500 lbs, comparable to the Cobra polymer buckles.

1.5” Nexus GT Cobra is designed to be more robust than any other type of plastic hardware on the market, with a targeted tensile load of 500lbs which is a 100% Polymer system with no metal components. This make is perfect for service dogs traveling through metal detectors. NOTE: Not available on Small, XS, and XXS sizes.

Molle Straps - MOLLE stands for “modular light-weight load-carrying equipment” SFGC uses military specifications for our molle straps including Velcro® MilSpec loop and nylon webbing. NOTE: Not available on Small, XS, and XXS sizes. On these small sizes Velcro® side panels are added but they are not Molle straps

Steps to measure for your K9's harness:

1. On the size guide above you see the red circle on each K9. That is wear you measure. It's called the girth and is the largest area of the K9's body, right behind the K9's front legs. If you have a tailors measuring tape use that. If you don't use a cord, strap, belt, what every you have handy. Then layout what you used and measure it  with a standard tape measure. It's best to do this 3 times to be sure you have it right.

2. Shark Fin Gear's harnesses are made so that if the girth measurement is right, the neck measurement won't need to be measured. We guarantee if the girth fits, the rest of the harness fits. Please review the size guide before you order. If you are not satisfied with the fit we will replace it with the best size for you at no charge.
