Built for Bad Weather

The outer shell of the chest pack is constructed of mil-spec 500D Cordura. This is a Berry Compliant, made in the USA, durable fabric with a DWR (durable Water Repellent) finish. Under the 500D Cordura, we've sewn in a waterproof shell of ripstop nylon for additional protection against the elements. YKK AquaGuard zippers on the main compartment and on the front pocket round out the weatherproofness of the Frontier Chest Pack. This pack was built for hard use.

Designed to Adapt

The design philosophy behind SG-FIELDCORE is simple: gear needs to adapt to you - not the other way around. We believe a pack should enhance your efficiency, not dictate it. In the field, effectiveness comes from having your gear exactly where you need it, without second-guessing or adjusting your movements to accommodate where the pack compels you to stow items. Our adaptable system ensures that your tools are where you want them to be, so you can focus on finding fish - not on finding your gear.

To achieve this, we lined the interior of the main compartment with mil-spec Velcro loop. This allows you to place your tools in a way that works best for you. Throughout development and testing, it was interesting to see how no two packs were set up the same across all the fly fishermen that field tested the pack. The ability to build out or streamline and configure everything how you want things to be is one of the strongest features of our system.

Three Ways to Run It

The Wader System comes with an H-Harness, a Hip Belt, and Wader Connectors. The H-Harness is built with Squadron B52 Cordura and mil-spec elastic. It is lightweight, thin, and has air flow with our laser-cut Hexair pattern. ITW QASM buckles attach to side-lock buckles found at the top of the chest pack. A net catch loop is located on the back of the harness.

If you prefer to run the pack around your waist, it's easy to snap off the H-Harness and clip on the included Hip Belt. The Hip Belt is also constructed of Squadron B52 Cordura, along with 1.5" mil-spec webbing and ITW hardware.

Now, what really sets the Wader System apart from other options on the market are our Wader Connectors. Our robust Wader Connectors, built with Squadron B52 and mil-spec Velcro Hook and Loop, feature the MOLLE standard on both the front and back. They're 6.25" long which serves two purposes - adjustability for different body types and ride height preferences, and strength to support a loaded Chest Pack without the need of an H-Harness. In our field testing, there were groups of people that ran lighter loadouts and just used the Wader Connectors. Others, that preferred to carry more gear, used the Wader Connectors and the Back Strap from the H-Harness to keep their setups close to their chest. However you decide to run it, you'll have all the components and hardware needed to configure your ideal set up.

Informed by Experience

We didn't throw a dart at a board of outdoor sports and watch it hit "fly fishing". To the contrary, Paul Laemmlen, the founder and creator of StealthGearUSA holsters, was somewhat reluctant to embark on this project. A fly fisherman for over 50 years, for Paul, fly fishing was his time away from his work on holsters. But there were a few things we found in our packs that we wished were different. Ever the innovator, Paul started designing a pack (that grew into a system) that addressed those issues.

Every feature of our packs was designed to enhance adaptability for fly fishing-specific gear. The pack features MOLLE panels on the front, sides, and bottom. These panels will work with SG-FIELDCORE MOLLE-compatible gear - along with any MOLLE standard gear you may already have.

The main pouch has four interior and two exterior gear loops. These are small loops of Squardron B52 where you can anchor tethers or attach clipped gear like nippers, hemostats, etc.

There is a front zipper pocket and an internal zipper pocket in the main compartment. The front zipper pocket has Velcro lining and is ideal for storing small items in Tegris Gear Keepers - like hook files, lighters, chapstick, etc. The internal zipper pocket is the most weather protected pocket and we like to keep our licenses and wallets in this pocket.

The back panel of the chest pack features a 3/8"-thick 3D spacer mesh pocket that provides comfort and ventilation - with the added function of being a pocket. This became the "phone pocket" amongst ourselves and our field testers. It kept the phone super accessible but also secure against our chest. Underneath the mesh are the attachment loops for the buckle hardware. These loops are laser cut from Cordura B52 Squadron and bar tacked. These loops also serve as connection points for auxiliary SG-Fieldcore pouches - Possibles Pouch and the Half Pouch.
